iPhone natives upgrade to iPhone X, Android switchers go with cheaper iPhones

New information from Customer Intelligence Research study Partners reveals who’s purchasing brand-new, costly iPhones and who’s choosing more budget-friendly iOS alternatives in between users who have actually grown with iOS and fresh switchers from Android.

CIRP performs rolling studies with previous iOS and Android users to determine exactly what iPhone designs they purchased– in this case, we’re taking a look at an information spread from September to March of this year. The outcomes you see in the chart below, acquired by BGR, represent the study universe for each classification– the analysis company approximates that 15 to 20 percent of any given quarter’s iPhone sales come from previous Android users.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus showed the most popular in both groups with a 40 percent share of switchers and a couple of points more for locals. Things diverge from there: the number 2 phone for iOS upgraders was the iPhone X at 20 percent while for movers from Android, it was the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus closer to 25 percent. The iPhone X was the dead last option for old droiders, falling behind the most budget-friendly iPhone SE and the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone Sixes Plus. For Apple fans, the iPhone SE was the least popular option.

In those 6 months, Apple offered 132.5 million iPhones, suggesting from CIRP’s own price quote that as much as 26.5 million sales originated from individuals who left Google, Samsung, LG and other Android OEMs behind. Whether they become the system or leap back out would be intriguing to see.
